We took the scenic route out of Phoenix this morning. One wrong turn led us to a tiny diner, two very good coffees, and the best advice of the trip: take your time. By afternoon, the red rocks were glowing. We sat here for a while, saying very little. Sometimes the detour is the part you remember.
Pictures never quite tell you how big it feels. We arrived just before sunset and found a quiet spot along the rim. After all these years of talking about this trip, here we are. I wanted to remember the breeze, the silence, and how happy we were to finally make it.
An early walk, a thermos of coffee, and nowhere we needed to be. We watched the sun come up over the desert and made a promise to do more mornings like this.
